11 Quick Facts About Get Set
- Get Set is a short, online course that will help you prepare for your career and future
- You will learn what NZ employers are looking for.
- You will be prompted to assess your own skills and abilities.
- With your new level of understanding in these two areas, Get Set will then help you to decide what you should do next; either employment, training or additional career guidance
- Get Set will provide you with practical skills and knowledge about the New Zealand workplace
- Get Set will help you to build up your online CV which will link you directly to Employers and can be used to apply for jobs
- You can do the course with a tertiary education provider (with tutor support) or on your own at home
- The course is interactive and fun! You will meet several animated characters who will teach you things about the typical New Zealand workplace
- You will learn about: effective communication, listening skills, written communication, teams, motivation, positive attitudes, learning styles, personalities, creative thinking, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution, researching, and interview skills
- The programme is NZQA approved
- You can expect the course to take you between 10 and 20 hours to complete

What do I get out of it?
5 things you will get out of Get Set:
- Get Set will help you decide if you are ready for employment, tertiary education or need further career advice
- Get Set will prompt you to think about your skills, abilities and experiences, and help you to package them in the way employers want
- You will get a certificate of completion for your CV
- You will build an online CV (called a QPASS CV). When you are ready to activate it, you will automatically be matched to current job vacancies. Then, you will be invited to apply for them, which is as easy as clicking a button
- Get Set will build up your knowledge and confidence to help you get the career and future you really want
How much does it cost?
Are you at High School, Polytechnic or other Private Training Establishment?
- Check with your teacher/tutor or career advisor to see if your establishment already provides the Get Set course. If so, it is free.
- If not, please tell them you are interested and email us with the details of the contact person there so we can contact them to invite them to join.
